Just get an IPTV unit on fleabay. Its a onetime purchase price and free life time support via phone or email. I check them out and they are arround for about 4 years now and write their own firmware for their unit. All servers are off shore

All ch are free and it works like netflex. Only thing you buy the unit from them. Unit update automatically via internet.

Up to date current and past pictures all free.

I am look for facts and opinions.

@ FTA PROFESSIONALS

Who has the best reliability?, Price?, Consistency?, Most helpful with setup for their package and on here frequently?

Is their really any difference in packages from one seller to another other than price?

Will most give a free one day trial so I can be sure my setup is right and I like the package before I buy?

Does anyone also provide codes and or streaming for other sats other than 82,91,110,119,129?

Anyone doing the directv codes? With everything going hd, mpeg 4 it shouldn't be much harder than dish networks should it?

I am in a hard spot to get satellites but finally found a clear spot on the property that I am getting an excellent signal on 1000.2=110 119 and 129 as well as 72.7 on both lnbs on my dish 500 dish "not in bev range, so might as well point at something.".

I believe I am ready for server hookup. I am connected through a Vonets through my wifi and stb says "connection is good".

Any and/or All questions answered is greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time reading this, for any info provided, and for your opinion, in advance.

have a wonderfull day and may all your channels stay up :)

1. Of course you start by putting batteries in the remote, hooking it to your tv, plugging in your network cable, and turning it on.

2. Once it boots up to the inner portal go to "Settings" and select "Interface". This is where you tell it where to go when it loads up, changes weather to C or F, etc. I set my weather to Fahrenheit here and ok to save. Exit back out to "Settings"

3. Now go to "System Settings" and select "Network" to set it up. "Auto (DHCP)" will work for most users. For wireless you need an usb adapter so we won't go into that now.

4. Select "Auto update software" and set auto update to enabled. Press the green F2 button to update now. Then exit.

5. Exit out twice to "System Settings" menu and now go to Servers.

5. Click "General" and put in a timeserver. pool.ntp.org works. Use the "KB" button on your remote to bring up the on screen keyboard. This is where we fix your time. Press ok to save and then exit once back to "Servers' menu.

7. Click "Portals" and enter your server info. There are 2 there. For "Portal 1 name "here you enter the URL given"
. then press ok to save and exit back twice to "System Settings" again.

8. Click "Video" and choose what you want to use or what your tv wants to use. The bottom left button on your remote is the aspect button and will show the list, remember this for future reference. Press ok to save and exit back out to "System Settings" again.

9. This time select "Advanced Settings" These are pretty self-explanatory. Language, time zone closest to you, and where you find buffer size if you need to set it now or later. Left mine at 0. Make sure to press ok to save and reboot your STB.

10. After the reboot it will boot into the IPTV portal. If it loads into a tv channel or black screen press exit to see the portal page. Here you will see TV, Videoclub, etc.

11. Scroll it over to "Settings" and click it.

12. Here you can set parental control if needed. Select "Localization" now and fix your settings there. Set them as needed with a city somewhere close to where you are if yours is not listed. Exit out and scroll through the rest. If you need to change anything do so now. Some of the options are the same as in the inner portal.

13. For "Portal" it is best to leave it at main menu if you have limited bandwidth, so it doesn't come on to live tv without anyone watching it.

14. Towards the bottom you will see "Go to the inner portal", this is how you get back to the inner portal if needed.

15. Now exit out and watch some tv. Videoclub is where the movies are and tv is where, um, the tv is

If at any time you get bored, stumped, or want to learn more go into settings and exit back out into the inner portal. You'll see a book icon there named "Menu Guide" that has a wealth of information. Check it out and get a little more comfortable with the terms and usage of your mag receiver.

Any time you're in the inner portal, pressing exit a few times will boot you back into the IPTV portal.

Quick Start for the MAG254

Quick start for MAG254

> Unpack your box and place the included batteries into the remote control.

> Connect your HDMI and Ethernet cables to your MAG254, then plug in the power

> Wait for the system to completely startup, it might take what feels like hours. It will start up in what is called the Inner portal (also know as the Embedded portal).

> Navigate to the Menu Guide tab at bottom press OK to access the Help menu where you can read up on all aspects for using the device before setting it up.

> Click on the Settings Icon and then choose System Settings.

> Network is the first choice you are presented with. Click on the icon and from there choose either Wired or Wireless (you will need an external adapter).

> Click on Wired and then Auto (DHCP), press Exit to get back to the System Settings menu.

> Now choose Servers, first server is called General, click on it and you will be presented with a place to enter a server name with NTP beside it. Type pool.ntp.org and press OK to save.

> Next server is Portal, there are 2 Portals that are able to be filled out. For now just use the first one. For Portal 1 name type in NFPS, move to the Portal URL and enter 1.iptvprivateserver.tv/ (it is not necessary to use the [Dear Guest/Member you can't see link before replyclick here to register] and press OK to save. That is it for the portal servers.

> Now choose Video and set the resolution you wish to use. Set the video output mode to 720p-60 or 1080i-60 or 1080p-60 depending on the resolution you wish to use. For graphic resolution set it to 1280x720 for 720p and 1980x1080 for 1080i and p. Make sure to press OK to save.

> Now go to Advanced Settings: these settings are important for the time settings.
- Language: choose the language you wish to have the menus in.
- Timezone: toggle left or right to scroll through the area/cities until you find your location or the closest one to your location. You can also press the Aspect Ratio button on the remote and it will bring up the list of area/countries and you can scroll through to find your location. Make sure to press OK to save your settings.

> Now the device has to reboot, after it reboots you should be in the NFPS portal. If you end up with a blank screen press Exit several times to get to the Portal main screen. Use the left right arrow buttons on the remote to choose your options at the bottom of the screen.

Some settings need to be done and checked on for the outer portal.

> Use the left/right arrow buttons until you get to Settings then press OK.

> Use the up/down buttons and choose Localization, verify your Language, Country, City and Timezone. When the cursor is on an option press the OK button and it will bring up a list of choices, except for City where you use the left/right buttons to toggle through the choices, select the one that applies to you.

> You can go through the Network, Video, Audio, Playback options to set them to your choice as they might be different that what you had set in the inner portal.

> The Portal option is for the outer portal and what happens when the STB starts up. The choices are Main Menu and Last TV Channel, you can decide which you prefer.
- It is highly recommended to set this option to Main Menu. In the event of a power failure the STB will turn back on in fully operational mode, if left on the Last TV Channel it would start using internet resources and you would not be aware of it. This would come as a big surprise to someone when the monthly bill arrives if you happen to be on a limited line.

> Advanced Settings - if you are having freezing issues try setting the buffer (in seconds) to a higher value, maximum is 15 seconds. You can also adjust the time interval for the screen saver, the other options leave alone for the time being.

> The server option is for the NTP server. Make sure it is pool.ntp.org incase it didn't save the settings before.

> There is also an option to go to the inner portal if you wish to do so.

How to connect to network shares

$

From within the inner portal, you can map to multiple shares on your network. You can google creating a network share for the operating system you are using. For the sake of this tutorial, we will be dealing with windows based shares...all versions. You will need to know the IP address of the pc you are trying to connect to. Also note the name of the share you created on that pc. From the main screen on you inner portal, select Home Media. Hit the menu button on the remote and then hit the right arrow to get to the tools. Select Connect NFS/SMB
Type in the pc's IP address in the Server address: box...i.e.192.168.1.72
Type the name of the share in the Server folder: box...i.e. movies
The local folder box will auto-populate with the share name, or you can name it what you want.
Leave the connection type: SMB
Enter the username and password that you normally login to windows on that pc in their appropriate boxes
Click ok to connect
If all the information was correct, after successfully connecting, you will see the name you chose for that connection in the Home Media list

Enjoy seeing pics or watching vids from that pc
